NorthEast Philadelphia High School Football Thanksgiving Day Games
For the past five years I have been shooting High School Football Thanksgiving Day games for several papers in the North East Philly area. I team up with another sports shooter and we divide and conquer to capture as many games throughout the area as possible. Some years I may have one, others, like this year, I may have several. This year I had three games to cover, George Washington High School vs Archbishop Ryan, Lincoln at Father Judge and Central at NorthEast.
The day started off at GWHS vs Archbishop Ryan, last year it was bitter cold, this year was a balmy 48 degrees to start the day. I was able to stay for the first two quarters before heading out to the next game. By the time I left, it was an incredible 58 degrees out, can’t remember when it was that warm for Thanksgiving in a couple of years at least and Ryan ended up winning 35-7.
Next up, Lincoln vs Father Judge, this was actually the first game I shot five years ago in the North East Philly area. I remember this game as it was a cold day and starting snowing, with what seemed like the largest flakes imaginable. I was only able to stay at this game for a short time since covering the first game and travel eats up time. So I caught the third quarter and the start of the fourth, Father Judge went on to win 35-14.
Finally, it was a rush to get to the last game of the day, Central vs NorthEast and no, Tony Danza didn’t come around for a reunion. I arrived and it was 20-18 at the start of the fourth quarter, luckily there was a long half time allowing time to get there from the Father Judge game. It quickly became a route and NorthEast won 48-20, but I was able to still get some good shots and enjoy, at this time, the 60+ degree weather.
We had a great time traveling around the Country covering the OnstageNY Dance Competitions. We had two Photography and two Video Crews. It was one of our greatest logistical challenges, but we meet and worked with some great people. Its amazing how much great talent there is out there!
Get Shot By Brian Photography & Video recently did on location Corporate Headshot Photography for a local company in Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey.
Their current website had the typical iPhone mugshot, so we turned their office into a Photography Studio and turned the mugshot into something a bit better. They can now use the photos for personal, business and marketing material.
We completed the Dance With Me Studios Dance Recital in Bayonne NJ and created a quick video slideshow.
What it looks like from my view, setup a GoPro on top of my camera.
